We participated at The Business Show 2019 for the first time and let me tell you now we killed it. Our stand and staff delivered an excellent understanding of what we do here at VLSA, which generated a huge amount of interest amongst businesses.
So, what factors played to our success in our first ever expo? First and foremost, our models were bringing interested individuals and groups left, right, and centre. Our lovely models wore a red dress with our logo printed on the front and back and were tasked with handing out leaflets giving brief information about our service. If a conversation held and there was a sign of interest, they would re-divert the interested parties to the sales team and partners who would then explain in detail how they could help benefit the party’s business.
Second, smiles and polite attitude goes a long way when making an introduction and conversing as it is important for a potential client to feel welcomed and feel like a company wants to genuinely help them not just promote a service. So, trying to apply your business model around their existing business certainly helps out a lot as you can show before hand what your service could do for your client.
Thirdly, your stand plays an important part as essentially it’s your business home for the next 2 days. Therefore, you want to make sure your stand is organised, visually aesthetic, and clean. We decorated our stand with red balloons to match our logo and the dresses of our models, while the sales and partner teams wore white t shirts with our red logo. This ensured we carried out a colour scheme which matched our business logo as we wanted people within the expo to recognise us in every way possible. We made it known around the expo that red represented VLSA.
Your billboards in our experience shouldn’t be crammed with information, it should have short and simple points of what it is that you do. This is done to engage curious visitors to ask more questions, “what is it that you guys do?”, “oh so like a virtual office?”. These types of engagements allowed us to explain what we do to the fullest.
Lastly have fun. You cannot come across as too serious or too good for anyone. Make friends from other stands as you might learn something useful or even make a good business connection for the future as sometimes you can be referred by them.
Overall, we were very happy with the outcome and experience we received from The Business Show. It was definitely a resourceful event and we hope to attend there again in the future.
